Ganesh Chaturthi

Just sitting at my usual chai joint, near dairy den there was a huge procession that came by with the ganesh idol.. with loud music filling everyones senses. There were only men i noticed who were dancing ruthlessly to raunchy bollywood numbers. This procession was of one of the slums where the local youth group has organised the ganesh utsav.

Most of them drunk, young boys of the age of 12-15 jumped and shouted as if they had been electrocuted. Most processions that i noticed yesterday had the same zest, my mind kept thinking what if the idol could speak and had a say in the procession. Can you imagine Ganeshji saying Hey Mr Dj change the music... The worst blow came when yesteday i noticed a pandal in the university campus. A place like an university that should display an example of secularism succumbs to such endevours.
